The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) is pleased to announce that U.S. Sen. Bob Casey will be the host of a special upcoming Conversation and Cocktails event.

The event will be held on August 30 at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required. Visit this site to register.

Earlier this year, Casey and members of his staff visited the LVEDC office to learn more about economic development efforts in the Lehigh Valley, and how he could continue to advocate for the region at state and federal levels.

“The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation is doing a tremendous and critical service for the people of the Lehigh Valley,” Casey said during the visit. “Creating jobs is as important as any public service and your efforts are increasing the community’s quality of life.”

Don Cunningham, LVEDC President and CEO, stressed at the time the importance of keeping lines of communication with state and federal officials open to advance LVEDC’s vision of a Lehigh Valley with a diverse economic base enabling businesses to come, start, and grow here.

“We’ve always enjoyed a strong working relationship and partnership with Sen. Casey,” Cunningham said. “Engagement like this is extremely important and helps us ensure that he knows exactly what’s happening here in the Lehigh Valley so he can continue to advocate on behalf of the region.”

The Conversation and Cocktails series allows LVEDC investors a unique opportunity to have targeted interaction with members of the Lehigh Valley’s legislative body in an intimate setting to discuss pressing economic issues. U.S. Rep Charlie Dent hosted of one of these events earlier this year.

The August 30 event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the State Theatre’s Acopian Ballroom. A general question-and-answer portion and networking session will follow Casey’s address. Butlered hors d’oeurves, beer, wine and soft drinks will be served.

Currently in his second term, Casey has served in the U.S. Senate since 2007, and previously held the positions of Pennsylvania Auditor General and Pennsylvania Treasurer. As a member of the Senate’s Finance Committee, he has made Pennsylvania jobs and growing the U.S. economy one of his top priorities.

Casey has championed legislation making it easier for small businesses to plan for capital investments that create jobs, and has supported billions in tax cuts encouraging businesses to hire workers, according to his office. He has also fought against trade policies that he believes puts American manufacturing at a disadvantage.
