Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure speaking at the 2019 Northampton State of the County address.
Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure will deliver his annual State of the County address digitally this year, highlighting such topics as his Pandemic Protection Plan, the county budget, Northampton’s first forensic center, and the continued preservation of farmland and open space.
The address will be broadcast virtually on Tuesday, April 13, at 11 a.m. on the Facebook page of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC), which is hosting the online event.
“I’m looking forward to sharing all the progress we were able to make last year despite the challenges of a worldwide pandemic,” McClure said. “We continue to make advancements to serve our residents, protect our open spaces and promote our economy.”
There is no cost to view the address, but pre-registration is encouraged. Visit here for more information or to register. The address will be broadcast on LVEDC’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and website.
During the speech, McClure is expected to discuss the establishment of drive-through testing sites for COVID-19, programs to help seniors get vaccinated, and vaccination and mental health programs at the Gracedale Nursing Home.
He will also discuss the expansion of the parks and trails system, assistance grants for small businesses, and increasing broadband access for K-12 students, veterans, and senior citizens.
“This has been a challenging year,” McClure said. “We owe a debt to our front-line workers and first responders who worked and sacrificed to keep us all safe. My address will be dedicated to those we lost, but also to what we can do now to build a stronger Northampton County as we move forward.”
The State of Northampton County address is sponsored by Gross McGinley, Workforce Board Lehigh Valley, BSI Corporate Benefits, and Lehigh Valley International Airport.
LVEDC also hosted the virtual State of Lehigh County address by Executive Phillips Armstrong, which was broadcast on Feb. 25. The full 33-minute address can be viewed on LVEDC’s YouTube channel.
