SCORE Lehigh Valley to Host National Small Business Week Virtual Event
By Colin McEvoy on September 3, 2021
SCORE Lehigh Valley will be sharing the stories and successes of some of its clients, sponsors, volunteers and mentors during a special virtual event throughout National Small Business Week this month.
For six minutes each day from Sept. 13 to Sept. 17, the organization will share video footage via YouTube sharing the perspectives of various people involved in the organization.
The week-long virtual event, entitled Celebrate SCORE, also recognizes that SCORE Lehigh Valley has achieved platinum status for five years in a row, which means it is recognized as a platinum diamond chapter among the 250 SCORE chapters in the country.
“We reached out to many more clients than we normally do in the past year because of the economic situation with COVID-19,” said Girish Sud, chapter chair of SCORE Lehigh Valley, and a member of Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation’s Entrepreneurship Council of the Lehigh Valley.
“We have really managed to focus our energies on existing and new startups, and we thought this year as we make a turn, as we hope for a better future, we should celebrate SCORE and its clients, its sponsors, and its volunteer mentors,” Sud said.

The Lehigh Valley chapter of the Small Business Administration’s national SCORE organization is active with more than 30 volunteers who share experience and knowledge to help small business owners and potential small business owners to succeed in their missions.
The regional chapter is dedicated to entrepreneurial mentoring and education on the formation, growth and success of small businesses. It also supports and counsels nonprofit organizations.
Lehigh Valley SCORE provides free and confidential business mentoring tailored to business needs and personal objectives. The organization also offers workshops for start-up entrepreneurs, small business owners, and nonprofit organizations.
The six-minute video segments during the Celebrate SCORE event will include SCORE Lehigh Valley clients discussing how the organization helped me, as well as sponsors who have helped SCORE sustain its level of services, Sud said.
“Additionally, we wanted to use this week to thank our volunteer mentors,” he said. “This is an all-volunteer organization, and we wanted to provide some form of recognition for the work they put in day in and day out.”
