Saying Goodbye to an LVEDC Stalwart…

By George Lewis on January 23, 2023

Colin McEvoy

Colin McEvoy, Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp.’s Director of Communications for the past eight years, has left his position to take a writing position with Biography.com, a new acquisition of Hearst Magazines in Easton.

McEvoy, who joined LVEDC in October 2014, has been responsible for creating, managing, and implementing LVEDC’s communications strategies and plans, which included serving as editor and lead writer of its weekly e-newsletter

“Under Colin’s editorial direction, LVEDC’s Annual Report has won awards for excellence from the International Economic Development Council in each of the last five years, competing against reports from economic development organizations serving regions much larger than the Lehigh Valley,” said George Lewis, LVEDC’s Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Research.

He helped secure positive coverage of the Lehigh Valley’s economic renaissance from recognized national news media outlets including The New York Times, The Guardian, PBS News Hour, Reuters, CNN Money, U.S. News and World Report, and Money magazine, as well as feature sections for the in-flight magazines of American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

“Colin will be missed at LVEDC,” said Don Cunningham, president & CEO, of LVEDC. “He was one of my early hires upon coming here, and he worked with me to build an award-winning communications operation. He’s not only a very talented communicator but he’s an all-around good person.

“We all wish him extremely well in his new role and his career.”

The LVEDC e-newsletter has grown consistently in readership and now reaches more than 4,600 subscribers. To subscribe to the newsletter, which is issued each Tuesday morning, visit www.lehighvalley.org/blog.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at LVEDC, where I had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented people and give back to the Lehigh Valley region that I am proud to call my home,” McEvoy said.

Before joining LVEDC, he worked as a reporter for The Express-Times/LehighValleyLive.com. He also served for several years on the committee for the Lehigh Valley March of Dimes Commercial & Industrial Real Estate Awards program. He is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University with degrees in English and Communications.

At Hearst Magazines, he will serve as Senior News Editor at Biography.com. Hearst Magazines is part of Hearst, one of the nation’s largest diversified media, information, and services companies with a global audience of 200 million print readers and 400 million digital visitors.
