By Colin McEvoy on September 1, 2017
A new video highlights the remarkable transformation downtown Allentown has experienced in recent years, showcasing such projects as the PPL Center hockey arena, Allentown Renaissance Hotel, Trifecta Technologies Building, and Butz Corporate Center.
The four-and-a-half-minute video, produced by City Center Lehigh Valley, is entitled “Downtown Allentown: A City on the Rise,” and features before-and-after photos from more than a dozen projects that have been completed in the last four years.
These include several City Center projects, including One City Center, a seven-story building adjacent to the PPL Center that houses Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) Fitness and Chickie’s & Pete’s; and Two City Center, an eleven-story office/retail building at 7th and Hamilton streets that houses BB&T‘s corporate headquarters.
The video also features Allentown’s Artswalk, the co-working space Velocity, and multiple downtown restaurants, including Centro, Grain, Cork & Cage, and Vince’s Cheesesteaks.
Additionally, the video includes projects currently under construction – like the 12-story office building Tower 6 and the Strata Symphony luxury apartment building – as well as projects in planning stages, like the Five City Center Campus and the 520 Hamilton building.
