New LVstartup Highlights Lehigh Valley’s Top 5 Ranking, Other News

The Lehigh Valley ranking among the top five regions for economic development in the Northeast for a second consecutive year is the news leading the latest issue of LVstartup.
The new issue of LVstartup, a monthly e-newsletter about entrepreneurs and startups in the Lehigh Valley, was released on April 5.
It also includes stories about Tyler Walker winning two silver medals at the Paralympic Winter Games using Bethlehem-made equipment, the biotech company Cernostics raising $2.5 million, and Allentown’s Bridgeworks Enterprise Center winning an IMPACT award.

Other featured stories include the U.S. Department of Defense partnering with a Ben Franklin TechVentures client, a Bethlehem biomedical startup receiving approval to sell drug tests in Europe, Lehigh Univeristy offering a summer entrepreneurship immersion program, and City Center developing a new residential building in Allentown.
The issue also spotlights several upcoming events, including Lehigh’s EUREKA! Ventures Competition, LVTech’s annual hackathon, the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Business Pitch Summit 2018, a free Bethlehem digital marketing seminar, and the 2018 Ben Franklin iXchange.
Additionally, LVstartup features a Lehigh Valley startup each month. This issue, the company is Cernostics, a diagnostics company focused on delivering next generation cancer diagnostics and prognostics through a unique approach to tissue analysis, which is located in the Ben Franklin TechVentures incubator.

LVEDC’s Entrepreneurship Council of the Lehigh Valley aims to improve the entrepreneurial environment of the region by listening to its entrepreneurs, identifying their unmet needs, communicating regional entrepreneurship initiatives between council members, and connecting local resources to continue the development of new entrepreneurial support initiatives.
LVstartup receives input from various organizations that serves the local entrepreneurial community, including LVEDC, the Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation at Lehigh University, Lehigh Valley Tech, the Allentown Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), the Bethlehem Department of Community and Economic Development, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Penn State Lehigh Valley, and others.
