TRuCapSol (Time Release Capsule Solutions), a microencapsulation company focused on delivering active ingredients at the right time and right place, has been approved to join the Bridgeworks Enterprise Center business incubator in Allentown.
The company expects to be operational by July 1, according to Scott Unger, Executive Director of the Allentown Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), which operates the Bridgeworks program.
“We are excited to have the TRuCapSol team join our ranks,” Unger said. “They are a notable example of how high-tech companies that create good-paying manufacturing jobs can launch and grow in the Lehigh Valley.”
TRuCapSol, which will have six employees at Bridgeworks, comes to the incubator by way of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The company launched its research and development efforts at the Ben Franklin TechVentures incubator in Bethlehem.
“We started in a lab at Ben Franklin TechVentures to prove our technology and develop the capability to produce several grams of our products at a time,” said David Brand, CEO of TRuCapSol CEO.
“With our move to Bridgeworks, we will scale up to producing test batches of our products that are several kilograms in size which we can then provide for testing to customers,” Brand said. “The goal is to attain full-scale production in a manufacturing facility.”
Anthony Durante, program manager at AEDC, said this a great example of how the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Lehigh Valley can work together to help create new companies and new jobs.
“By fostering a collaborative mindset between organizations, TRuCapSol is able to capitalize upon all of the resources that both AEDC and Ben Franklin Technology Partners has to offer,” Durante said.
Founded in 1989 in the refurbished former Mack Trucks Plant 4A, the 64,000 square-foot Bridgeworks Enterprise Center is the only business incubator in the Lehigh Valley dedicated primarily to manufacturing startups.
Bridgeworks received the IMPACT Award for February 2018 from the International Business Innovation Association. The award distinguishes entrepreneurship centers that are creating economic impact in their communities.
It was also announced earlier this year that startup companies located in Bridgeworks had earned more than $4.63 million in revenue in 2017, a 4.6 percent increase over the previous year.
TRuCapSol models its delivery systems after “Mother Nature’s encapsulation systems,” Brand said, which allows them to produce environmentally friendly and world-class capsules.
By utilizing their patented technology and production processes, the company can decrease the waste and improve the effectiveness of the formulations delivered to their customers.
TRuCapSol’s initial product line will focus on the consumer goods space, specifically laundry products such as detergents and fabric softeners, according to the company.
Other Bridgeworks client companies include Amorphic Tech Ltd., ColdEdge Technologies, The Colony Meadery, County Seat Spirits, HiJinx Brewing Company, JH Plastics, LightLab International Allentown, MTS Ventures, Polymer Contours, and Zzyzx Polymers.
