LVstartup: Lehigh University Ranked Among Top Schools for Entrepreneurial Experiences

Lehigh University has made a national magazine’s ranking of top colleges for entrepreneurial experiences, and that news is leading the latest edition of LVstartup.
Written and distributed by the Entrepreneurship Council of the Lehigh Valley, LVstartup is focused on the needs of startups in the region, providing information about local events, news, and resources available to entrepreneurs.

The newest issue, released today, highlighted Lehigh University making Entrepreneur magazine’s list of the top five schools that offer undergraduate entrepreneurs hands-on experience, whether it’s developing a strategic plan, participating in a student venture accelerator, or establishing a new business right on campus.
The article focuses particular attention on LaunchBayC Student Accelerator, a full-time summer program giving students 10 weeks to develop their products and ventures in an open-ended format. The program’s focus is on “the creativity, ideation, design, prototyping, and feasibility components of the accelerator process,” according to Lehigh.
The LVstartup featured other news stories, including a snowboard manufacturing winning the 12th annual Venture Idol competition, Lehigh University unveiling the region’s first bike-share program, and Allentown’s BridgeWorks Enterprise Center opening a new flex launch incubator space,
The new issue also highlights various upcoming events, like Girl Develop It Lehigh Valley hosting a two-day “JavaScript Basics Retreat,” LVTech hosting a meetup about robots and drones, and the 15th annual Lehigh Valley Collegiate Career Expo, which targets new graduates and students for internship opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and part-time and/or full-time employment.
Each month, LVstartup also spotlights a Lehigh Valley startup. This issue, the company is Orbweaver, a Bethlehem-based data exchange company that reduces the electronic component purchasing process from two weeks to about five minutes by standardizing integration points throughout the supply chain.

The Entrepreneurship Council of the Lehigh Valley is a council of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC), whose mission is to improve the entrepreneurial environment of the region by listening to its entrepreneurs, identifying their unmet needs, communicating regional entrepreneurship initiatives between council members, and connecting local resources to continue the development of new entrepreneurial support initiatives.
LVstartup receives input from various organizations that serves the local entrepreneurial community, including LVEDC, the Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation at Lehigh University, Lehigh Valley Tech, Allentown Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), the Bethlehem Department of Community and Economic Development, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, and others.
