The newest edition, released today, featured the announcement that the Allentown Economic Development Corpororation‘s (AEDC) business incubation program received the 2015 Program of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Economic Development Association (PEDA).
“Business incubation is one of the cornerstones of good economic development. It is also one of the most difficult to achieve,” said Dave Black, PEDA Awards Committee Chairperson. “It is labor and cost intensive and return on investment is limited, while business development is slow. However for organizations like AEDC that support business incubation, it sends a message to both local and passing entrepreneurs that the community being served does have their eyes focused on the future, jobs of the future and future opportunities for the region’s emerging workforce.”
The LVstartup featured other news stories, including a Bethlehem company topping the LVB list of Fastest Growing Companies, the Southside Bethlehem KIZ looking back on a successful year, Lehigh Valley tourism reaching an all-time high, and the approaching groundbreaking for the long-awaited Waterfront project in Allentown.
The new LVstartup issue also highlights various upcoming events, like the LVEDC Fall Signature Event: “Mack Trucks in the Lehigh Valley and in the World” on Nov. 11, as well as Ben Franklin Venture Idol on Nov. 12, AEDC’s Flex Launch and Coworking Space unveiling on Nov. 13, and “CREATIVATE: Explore Creativity and Innovation” hosted by Lehigh University’s Baker Institute.
Each month, LVstartup also spotlights a Lehigh Valley startup. This issue, the company is LightLab International Allentown, LLC, is an independent photometric testing laboratory that provides testing services for the lighting industry.
