By Colin McEvoy on March 20, 2018
Each week, Karianne Gelinas, Director of Talent Supply with the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC), will provide an update and additional information about its ongoing initiative to identify talent supply and demand issues in the region and create a strategy that results in a broader, ongoing understanding of the Lehigh Valley workforce. Recruiting and retaining talent is a common theme discussed among employers today. Newly-minted employees are graduating from high schools and colleges and may have a different generational perspective on everything from professional clothes to work-life balance.
But they are here to stay. Millennials and Generation Z are the new workforce and we have to learn to work together.
Engage, the Employee Engagement Blog, shared these six easy ways to work with new employees that drive their success, and thus employer success:
- Empower small, agile project teams
- Adopt transparency in communication and leverage popular mediums
- Flatten organizational structures
- Change the focus of your meetings
- Rethink flexibility
- Make the team work for a higher cause
