LVEDC Talent Supply: Satisfaction with the Lehigh Valley Workforce
By Colin McEvoy on March 6, 2018
Each week, Karianne Gelinas, Director of Talent Supply with the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC), will provide an update and additional information about its ongoing initiative to identify talent supply and demand issues in the region and create a strategy that results in a broader, ongoing understanding of the Lehigh Valley workforce. (See past updates.)
Through our talent supply initiative, we have been working to improve our understanding of the Lehigh Valley’s talent supply and demand landscape. Through the engagement process of the talent study, target sector employees were asked about their satisfaction with the availability of qualified workers in the region.
As you can see below, the results were split, validating the need for regional action to support the alignment of our available workers’ skills and trainings with the demands of industry.
We asked the question: “Overall, how satisfied are you with the availability of qualified workers in the Lehigh Valley for positions in your company?”
The results were:
- Very satisfied: 6 percent
- Satisfied: 46.7 percent
- Dissatisfied: 36.8 percent
- Very dissatisfied: 10.5 percent
