LVEDC Talent Supply: Employees Welcome Learning Opportunities at Work

Each week, Karianne Gelinas, Director of Talent Supply with the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC), will provide an update or additional information from its ongoing initiative to identify talent supply and demand issues in the region and create a strategy that results in a broader, ongoing understanding of the Lehigh Valley workforce. We have been learning that employees want to know that their employer is invested in them.
One way to invest in employees and ensure that employees have the skills required to accomplish their job duties is through learning opportunities at work.
Providing learning opportunities at work leads to stronger employee retention and narrowing of the skills gap.
In a survey this year by LinkedIn, 94 percent of employees said they would stay at a company longer if it invested in their career development, according to a recent Bloomberg article. You can read the full article here.
