LVEDC Representatives Included in Lehigh Valley Business Power 100 List
By Colin McEvoy on March 25, 2022
Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation President & CEO Don Cunningham and eight members of the LVEDC Board of Directors have been included on the Lehigh Valley Business’ (LVB) Power 100 list.
“These are the individuals who shape our communities and influence the quality of life in our region,” said LVB Managing Director Ernest Long. “They are leaders — some quite prominent and well-known — as well as those who are behind-the-scenes change-makers. They operate in all spheres of endeavor: law, finance, education, government, health care, business and nonprofits.”
Cunningham said the inclusion of so many LVEDC representatives in the list highlights the importance of the organization’s efforts to grow the regional economy, as well as the continued economic renaissance of the region as a whole.
“Over the past two years during COVID-19, the coalition of stakeholders and investors that supports LVEDC came together and only became stronger,” Cunningham said. “The LVEDC Board of Directors has played a pivotal role in maintaining that coalition, allowing us to pursue creative initiatives that go beyond the economic development work in a typical region.”
LVEDC board members included in the list include:
- Dr. Ann Bieber, President of Lehigh Carbon Community College
- Gunnar Brunius, Vice President & General Manager of Mack Trucks, Lehigh Valley Operations
- T. Anthony Iannelli, President & CEO of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce
- Lamont G. McClure, Northampton County Executive
- Salvatore J. Panto Jr., Major of Easton
- J. William Reynolds, Mayor of Bethlehem
- Matthew Tuerk, Mayor of Allentown
- R. Scott Unger, Chair of the Lehigh Valley Land Recycling Initiative
The LVB Power 100 list also includes some individuals whose tenures with the LVB Board of Directors ended this year, including Anne Baum, President of Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital, and Luke Cunningham, Chair of the Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation.
Additionally, the list includes several people who participated in LVEDC’s executive video interview series, which featured leaders at some of the largest and most prestigious companies and employers in the Lehigh Valley.
Interview subjects who appeared on the LVB Power 100 list include Brunius; Todd Shamash, President & CEO of Capital Blue Cross; Michael Spigel, President & CEO of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network; Rich Wuerthele, President & CEO of Crayola; and Vincent Sorgi, President and CEO of PPL Corp.
The list also includes Chris Hudock, Associate Executive Director for Business Development Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley, who is the outgoing chair of LVEDC’s Entrepreneurship Council of the Lehigh Valley.
The LVB Power 100 List includes profiles about each of the featured individuals. The selectees were chosen by the LVB editorial staff, and the list does not include any rankings, according to Long.
“Our goal with these profiles is to showcase these men and women in a way that offers insights into their accomplishments and reveals something meaningful about who they are and what makes them tick,” Long said.
The list’s profile said of Cunningham: “In his role at the LVEDC, Cunningham has been instrumental in the economic and cultural rebirth of the Lehigh Valley.”
