LVEDC Releases New Video About Lehigh Valley’s Manufacturing Industry
By Colin McEvoy on March 24, 2016
The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) has released the latest in a series of videos highlighting the four target sectors of the Lehigh Valley.
The latest video, created by the Emmy Award-winning FireRock Productions, focuses on the region’s manufacturing industry, including interviews from some of the region’s biggest manufacturers, such as Mack Trucks, Victaulic, and Crayola.
Four of the videos will focus on the region’s four target sectors – high performance manufacturing, high value business services, life science research & manufacturing, and food & beverage processing – while the others will highlight the Lehigh Valley’s entrepreneurial community and redevelopment projects.

“We encourage everyone to share these videos or embed them on your company websites for use in personnel recruitment or your own marketing,” said Don Cunningham, LVEDC President and CEO. “These videos are designed to market the economic assets of the Lehigh Valley, so we more than welcome anyone who would like to help us spread the word.”
The new video was first unveiled to the public during the LVEDC 2016 Annual Meeting on March 22, held at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. About 600 people were in attendance.
Online video traffic is predicted to make up to 80 percent of all consumer Internet traffic in 2019, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index. That amount is up from 64 percent in 2014, meaning a rise of 16 percent in just five years.
“Internet users are consuming more video than ever, especially as Internet speeds grow faster and a growing number of people are opting to watch video online rather than through cable,” said Michael Keller, LVEDC Director of Marketing. “Now is the perfect time to spread the word about the Lehigh Valley through this fast-growing medium.”
The new video draws attention to many of the Lehigh Valley’s economic assets that make it a good fit for manufacturers, including its central location, well-developed transportation infrastructure, access to markets, strong workforce, community and culture, and excellent educational institutions.
“More than 60 percent of the products we make globally are produced here in the Lehigh valley,” said Pete Ruggiero, executive vice president of global operations at Crayola. “We’ve chosen to set up shop here because of the road networks, as a start. The access that trucks and warehouses have to the entire United States in phenomenal.”
In addition to Ruggiero, the video also includes interviews with Wade Watson, vice president and general manager at Mack Trucks; Eric Luftig, vice president at Victaulic; Ron Ticho, senior vice president of corporation communications at OraSure Technologies; and Ken Marino, president of Orbel Corporation.
