2015 was a remarkable year for the Lehigh Valley. The region’s GDP exceeded $35 billion for the first time in its history. Multiple overseas companies decided to establish their U.S. operations here. Site Selection magazine ranked it the top region of its size for economic development in the Northeast.

All of those feats and more have been highlighted in the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) 2015 Annual Report, which was released during the organization’s annual meeting on March 22.

“We saw many great success stories in the Lehigh Valley in 2015,” Don Cunningham, LVEDC President and CEO, wrote in the introduction. “Job growth continues to rise, our manufacturing base is strong, our e-commerce community continues to grow rapidly, and international companies have come to recognize the Lehigh Valley as a perfect entry into the Northeastern U.S. markets.”

The report highlights 19 major 2015 business attraction and/or expansion projects in the Lehigh Valley, including Safran, Guardian Life Insurance, SunOpta, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Nihon Kohden, Primark Stores, Tyber Medical, and more.

The report draws attention to the Lehigh Valley Lending Network, the LVEDC Education and Talent Supply Council, and the new LVEDC website, all of which were launched in 2015. It also highlights the fact that LVEDC’s redevelopment program experienced the biggest year in its 18-year history.
