NOTE: Our friends in Harrisburg provided LVEDC with Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley’s  comments  from the recent ribbon-cutting event at Fuling Plastics USA.

Thank you Bob Chapleski, VP of Operations, for that intro.

I bring greetings from Governor Corbett.

I am proud to stand with all of you today as we continue building a stronger Pennsylvania. And it is with great pleasure today that I welcome Taizhou Fuling and 75 new jobs to Lehigh County.

We’re gathered here because great things are happening in PA.

We have an abundance of talented workers. And the climate for an economy to thrive for years to come. By Taizhou Fuling choosing Allentown as its first US Location, 75 Pennsylvanians will have the opportunity to put their skills to use.

There are a number of reasons that the Commonwealth is attractive to a business looking to grow. But nothing matches the dedicated and skilled workforce that the people of this state can provide. When businesses are looking to expand, we can tell them to look no further… because there are skilled Pennsylvanians eager to meet the demands they require.

That is why Governor Corbett and I launched our Jobs1st PA initiative in 2012.

We created JOBS1stPA to give our state a roadmap to economic recovery. We focused on harnessing the state’s resources and talents to prioritize private-sector job growth for companies such as Fuling.

I’d like to thank everyone from Taizhou Fuling for bringing us here today.?As well as everyone from state and local government, and the private sector for making this a reality. It is a significant step in achieving our goal of “building a stronger PA.”

Today, year low and jobs have been growing on a consistent basis for nearly four years. Our unemployment rate is now at 5.7%, the lowest since September 2008.

More work needs to be done, but we are headed in the right direction.

Governor Corbett and I have a vision. We want to make PA a better place to live, work, and raise a family in. And it is our belief that PA’s best days lie ahead. This announcement today is proof of that.

Working together, we want to continue to see partnerships such as this one. In Lehigh County and all over the Commonwealth.
