Spotlight Lehigh Valley is a dedicated supplement about the region that takes a detailed look at what makes a certain region a great place to invest, visit, or relocate, with a particular focus on global economic impact, business diversity, and innovation.
Starting July 1, the American Way issue featuring the Lehigh Valley supplement became available in the seat of every single American Airlines flight, highlighting the region on an international platform unlike any it has seen before.
The issue is expected to reach about 5.4 million unique monthly readers and at least 16 million passengers in all, according to Carsten Morgan, Vice President of Special Projects for the Ink Global, which publishes the magazine.
“The Lehigh Valley is in the midst of an economic renaissance,” Morgan said. “The commercial landscape of today’s and tomorrow’s economy is vastly different than the stigmas and misnomers associated with the community. This is a story that hasn’t been presented to a global audience on this scale.”
The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) unveiled the magazine for the first time at an event last month. LVEDC and Discover Lehigh Valley provided assistance to the reporting in Spotlight and helped arrange interviews with companies and individuals in the Lehigh Valley
“Opportunities to highlight the Lehigh Valley on a worldwide stage like this do not come along often,” Don Cunningham, LVEDC President and CEO, said at the event. “This will bring us to the attention of millions of readers, including those at the forefront of company relocation and corporate real estate decisions.”
The Spotlight Lehigh Valley feature specifically includes a brief history of the region, a guide to its three cities, an interview with race car driver and famous Lehigh Valley resident Mario Andretti, and a featured article about the region’s top industries, companies, and economic trends.
It also features testimonials from the “Trailblazers,” representatives of some of the region’s most prominent companies and organizations. This includes Lehigh University President John Simon; Air Products President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi; and Nacho Abia, President and CEO of the Olympus Corporation of the Americas.
American Airlines offers 6,700 flights daily to 350 destinations in 50 countries. In total, the airline serves nearly 200 million passengers a year. Past communities featured in Spotlight include Miami, St. Louis, Orlando, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Antonio.
American Way ranks #1 nationally for readers who work for enterprise-sized companies with more than 1,000 employees, and one quarter of its readers are employed in management, business, or financial occupations, the highest amount of any national publication except for The Wall Street Journal.
