Get Ready to be “Wowed!” at the 2013 LVEDC Annual Awards

By LVEDC Staff on September 17, 2013

The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation is pulling out all the stops for its 2013 LVEDC Awards event, which is scheduled for October 16th at Miller Symphony Hall in Allentown.

Because the region’s businesses have enjoyed such an amazing year of projects, LVEDC is expanding its award categories this year.

The honorees alone are worthy of a “Wow!” but the excitement won’t stop there. John McGran, LVECC’s vice president of marketing, promises a couple of “Wow!”-worthy extras, including the unveiling of a Lehigh Valley video produced by the Emmy-winning team at FireRock Productions.

This year’s slate of awards includes:

– Expansion Project

– Attraction Project of the Year (Large)

– Attraction Project of the Year (Small to Medium)

– LVEDC Partner of the Year

– 2013 LVEDC Most Valuable Person

– New Business Project of the Year

– Urban Project of the Year (Commercial)

– Urban Project of the Year (Industrial)

“When we gathered to sort through the many deserving projects and individuals, we quickly realized we’d be remiss if we stuck to our traditional slate of five awards,” said McGran.

“Therefore, this year we will expand the honors and include more of the Lehigh Valley projects and people that made us stand up and say ‘Wow!’ over the past 12 months.”

Despite the extra awards, the ceremony will be kept to its traditionally tight one-hour format. It will be followed by a cocktail reception upstairs in the Rodale Room at Miller Symphony Hall.

In addition to the premiere of the Lehigh Valley video, there will be at least one other fun “surprise” at this year’s LVEDC Awards.

“If the stars align and everything we’re working on falls into place, this will be a night to remember for more than just the award winners,” said McGran.

The 2013 LVEDC Awards have taken on the look and feel of LVEDC’s Wow! Campaign– the marketing initiative that includes billboards and ads touting cool facts about Lehigh Valley and its economy, workforce and businesses.

The event is free but you are urged to RSVP. To reserve your spot at the 2013 LVEDC Awards, phone Katherine Schneider at (610) 266-6775 or email her at kschneider@lehighvalley.org. You can also sign up at our EventBrite link:

The official invitations are printed and should be mailed this week. Look for yours – and be sure to attend this year’s extra-special event.

IMPORTANT: To place an ad in our event program or to be a sponsor, please contact LVEDC’s John McGran at jmcgran@lehighvalley.org or at 610-266-7682. The cocktail reception sponsorship is off the table, but plenty of other great opportunities remain.
