Less than two months after opening their manufacturing facility in Lehigh Valley, the s’mores snack maker Stuffed Puffs is getting national attention, and drawing attention to the regional economy as well.

The Forbes magazine website unveiled a six-minute video this month highlighting Stuffed Puffs, which makes chocolate-filled marshmallows. The company in November opened a new 150,000 square-foot facility in Hanover Township, Northampton County, creating 134 new full-time jobs.

In the video, Stuffed Puffs founder Michael Tierney discusses the benefits Lehigh Valley has provided his company, including its central location, well-developed transportation infrastructure, access to markets. He also cited other food manufacturers and companies like FedEx Ground that have established significant presences here.

“You can reach 40% of Americans under two days by truck here in the Lehigh Valley, so it’s a great distribution point,” Tierney said in the video. “… So with (the Factory‘s) experience in the Valley building manufacturing, on top of the advantageous distribution options, it just made a lot of sense to make this our home too.”

The full video can be viewed here. It also featured DJ Marshmello, the fame American electronic producer known for his distinctive marshmellow-like mask, who is an equity partner in Stuffed Puffs.

“The decision of Stuffed Puffs to expand its production operations to the Lehigh Valley is an example of the region becoming a national leader in food and beverage innovation and production,” Don Cunningham, President & CEO of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC), said during the ribbon-cutting for the Stuffed Puffs facility in November.

“Since coming to The Factory to accelerate its growth, Stuffed Puffs has realized the advantages of making its product in the Lehigh Valley and Pennsylvania with the available talent, educational institutions, and access to market,” he said. “The combined efforts of the state, Northampton County, and the benefit of Factory LLC being here, is a best practice example of how to grow U.S. manufacturing.”

Stuffed Puffs was the first client company of The Factory to open a standalone facility in the Lehigh Valley. Located in a converted a former Bethlehem Steel mill, The Factory is an innovation center for startup food, beverage, and pet health companies.

Tierney met DJ Marshmellow and formed their partnership at the Forbes Under 30 Summit, according to the video.
