NOTE: Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC) is postponing its 2020 Annual Meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 19 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, Bethlehem, due to the growing public health concerns surrounding the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The meeting is typically attended by about 600 business, economic development and community leaders from the Lehigh Valley. This is LVEDC’s 25th Anniversary Annual Meeting.

The decision to postpone was made after Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf asked organizations today (3/12) to suspend public gatherings of more than 250 people. In addition, numerous Lehigh Valley employers have restricted employees from attending large meetings as part of a concerted effort to slow the spread of the virus.

LVEDC will reschedule the 2020 Annual Meeting at a time when public health officials determine it is safe again to host large public events.

“We look forward to sharing, at the appropriate time, the many successes of the past year in attracting employers and talented individuals to Lehigh Valley and exciting initiatives for 2020 and beyond that will support the region’s continued economic growth,” said LVEDC President and CEO Don Cunningham, “Right now, the safety of our community and all the members of our coalition is more critical.”

2019 was a year of incredible success for the Lehigh Valley. The region saw a record number of projects and earned national media attention for the balanced mix of assets that the Lehigh Valley offers. The economic output of the Lehigh Valley reached its highest mark ever at $41.2 billion in GDP, and companies and their employees are eagerly coming to the Lehigh Valley to be a part of the success.

The LVEDC Annual Meeting will highlight the economic development projects and activity from 2019 and recognize the companies and individuals that have contributed to the region’s growth. Join us as we celebrate the success stories of 2019 and look ahead to new initiatives in 2020 and beyond.
