December 2016 Issue of LVstartup E-Newsletter Released

The city of Easton could soon host Pennsylvania’s largest aquarium. A Lehigh Valley startup is creating custom-designed funeral urns. And the designers of a multi-sport “smart ball” have won the Ben Franklin Venture Idol competition.
These are among the stories highlighted in the latest issue of LVstartup, a monthly e-newsletter for entrepreneurs and startups in the Lehigh Valley, which was released today.

Other stories include Discover Lehigh Valley launching a brand new marketing campaign, regional entrepreneurs and developers coming together to discuss the need for space for growing companies, and Penn State Lehigh Valley will now offer a Project and Supply Chain Management degree.
The latest LVstartup also spotlights several upcoming events, including a post-election analysis with Muhlenberg College’s Chris Borick; a Tech Happy Hour at the Mint Gastropub in Bethlehem; and the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Career Expo (LVCCE), which offers new graduates and students internship opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and part- or full-time employment.
Each month, LVstartup features a Lehigh Valley startup. This issue, the company is Crowdplsr, a web-based software platform that allows individual fans and event organizers to select, promote, and fund crowd-generated ideas for concerts and events.

LVEDC’s Entrepreneurship Council of the Lehigh Valley aims to improve the entrepreneurial environment of the region by listening to its entrepreneurs, identifying their unmet needs, communicating regional entrepreneurship initiatives between council members, and connecting local resources to continue the development of new entrepreneurial support initiatives.
LVstartup receives input from various organizations that serves the local entrepreneurial community, including LVEDC, the Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation at Lehigh University, Lehigh Valley Tech, the Allentown Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), the Bethlehem Department of Community and Economic Development, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Penn State Lehigh Valley, and others.
