A manufacturer of burn treatment, plastic surgery, and aesthetic skin care products is relocating to a new facility in the Lehigh Valley, a move that will triple its existing amount of space and could eventually lead to new jobs.

Bio Med Sciences Inc. is moving its headquarters from its current Upper Macungie Township location to a new facility totaling more than 40,000 square feet in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.

The 999 Postal Road location will allow the company to add a newer and faster production line, with greater efficiency and more automation than its current equipment, according to company President Mark Dillon.

“The new machinery will have much better capacity, better efficiency, and higher speed,” he said. “We’ll dedicate our new equipment toward our higher volume-products. Once we relocate existing equipment to the new site, we’ll dedicate that toward smaller product lines and research & development facilities.”

Renovation of the new space is currently underway. The company plans to have office staff working there in early June, and production is expected to be operational by early September.

Bio Med Sciences currently employs more than 25 people. There are no plans to immediately create new jobs, but Dillon said the increased growth and efficiency from the relocation will likely lead to additional hiring in the future.

“As we continue to grow, I expect we will continue to add jobs,” he said.

Bio Med Sciences was established in 1987 and has been in the Lehigh Valley since 1991. Their current headquarters is located at 7584 Morris Court, and Dillon said the company remained in the Lehigh Valley because of its many strong economic assets.

“I find the Lehigh Valley is well-located, not far from Philadelphia or New York, and it’s in a part of the state where cost of living is reasonable and there is access to great employees,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed the Lehigh Valley for 30 years, so I’m quite committed to remaining here.”

In addition to ramping up production of the company’s major existing product lines, the company will seek to expand into new products and research new second-generation burn treatment and wrinkle reduction technology with the additional capability, Dillon said.

Bio Med Sciences makes products under the brand names Silon, Oleeva, and SeaAllure. The company sells directly to patients, consumers, and clinical practices, as well as through distributors.

The new Bio Med Sciences facility at 999 Postal Road was previously occupied by EcoTech Marine, a designer and manufacturer of high-quality aquarium equipment. That company announced last year that it was moving to a new location in Bethlehem.
