Beware this corporate scam
By LVEDC Staff on April 16, 2013
Our friends at the law firm of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba have issued a scam warning for Lehigh Valley businesses. The body of the firm’s recent warning email follows:
“We have been made aware by the Pennsylvania Department of State of a scam involving notices that are being mailed to Pennsylvania businesses from a company named Pennsylvania Corporate Compliance Company. We understand that these urge business corporations and limited liability companies to file certain information by a stated date in order to maintain proper records. Titled ‘Annual Meeting Disclosure Statement,’ these solicitations also require payment in the amount of $125.
“Should you receive one of these, be aware that there is no legal requirement for annual meeting minutes to be filed with the State. The ‘Annual Meeting Disclosure Statement’ described above should be disregarded. If you have received any communication and have questions regarding its legitimacy, you may contact the Pennsylvania Department of State at (717) 787-1057 or contact Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, P.C. at (610) 797-9000 and speak with our corporate paralegal, Stacie Heinen.”
