One of five new billboards throughout the Lehigh Valley.

The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. has launched its most aggressive billboard campaign ever with 19 digital screens and vinyls that are blanketing Lehigh Valley with a series of “Wow!” messages that show why the Valley is a top-flight business destination.

The bulk of the campaign that will run through December is being handled by billboard behemoth Adams Outdoor Advertising, but ads will also appear in other venues, including Lehigh Valley Style magazine.

“We want to show how cool it is to live here, work here and prosper here,” said John McGran, LVEDC’s vice president of marketing. “There’s a lot of great things happening locally – and a lot involves the economy, our workforce and the businesses that call this place home.”

McGran noted that the first five messages were crafted in-house for the campaign launch. But there are as many as 10 more in the works.

“We want to keep this fresh, so not only will the billboard locations change, but so will the ‘Wow!’ facts they express,” said McGran.

Whose $30 billion economy is larger than 104 nations?

What region has more college grads than Stanford, Harvard & Notre Dame combined?

What region was awarded more patents than 11 states?

Who puts the pinstripes on the Yankees?

Who brews more Samuel Adams beer than Boston?

The answer to each question: Lehigh Valley!

McGran says LVEDC wanted to put the spotlight on Lehigh Valley – and not on LVEDC.

“Our job here is to market the Lehigh Valley – and this is one way we plan to to do that!” he said.

While five of the 19 signs are located along heavily traveled Route 22, you will encounter the rest throughout the Lehigh Valley.

The goal is simple: By the end of the campaign there won’t be a single person in the Valley who has not seen the signs.

“And it will be icing on the cake if the signs grab the attention of a business prospect or two,” said McGran.
