CITY OF ALLENTOWN - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

FROM ITS EXTENSIVE PARKS SYSTEM TO ETHNIC RESTAURANTS TO CULTURAL AND COMMERCIAL INSTITUTIONS LIKE SYMPHONY HALL AND THE FAIRGROUNDS FARMERS MARKET, ALLENTOWN PENNSYLVANIA OFFERS AN UNPARALLELED OPPORTUNITY IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY TO EXPLORE, EMBRACE AND EXPERIENCE THE ACTIVE, WALKABLE URBAN LIFESTYLE.
Allentown, PA is an attractive location for businesses and is home to a variety of cultural and educational facilities that provides residents with a vibrant quality of life, such as the city’s integrated and scenic park system and the emerging 7th Street Corridor Program, featuring restaurants, clothing outlets, furniture stores and several service providers, to mention just two.
Allentown is strategically located within a 300-mile radius of the larger metropolitan areas of the eastern seaboard of the United States. A number of major corporations, including Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., Lehigh Portland Cement, LSI Corp. and PPL Corp. have selected Lehigh County as their headquarters or as the location of their principal plants. One reason is that city’s infrastructure provides state-of-the-art technology, including a fiber optic loop and uninterrupted electric service, which plays a role in attracting businesses to the downtown. Another reason is nearby highways, a railroad and an airport that provide access to the major markets and ports of the East and beyond.
